JCA Cinemes is one of the most important film exhibition companies in Spain. JCA is the acronym for JORDI CORTADA ARGILÉS, renowned Catalan businessman in the film sector, promoter of a family business founded in 1923. Throughout these almost 100 years of history, the evolution of the company has been closely linked to the changes that society has undergone , both of customs and consumption habits as well as tastes and cultural preferences, from when the cinema was silent and in theaters there were small orchestras that musically enlivened the end of the sessions, until today with the projection of cinema with the latest image and sound technology, with the complicity of Sony Digital Cinema and with a set of venues distributed throughout the Catalan territory with a total of more than 3,250 seats. In this space of time, the experience of transporting the viewer to a parallel world is the only one that has not changed.
This is the essence of the company: to provide the viewer with the possibility of enjoying an intimate leisure time. The rest, that is, the projection format, the theaters, the sound, the popcorn, the single theaters, the downtown multiplexes, the large complexes outside the cities, the alternative content or the services, have been transformations and evolutions marked by the social changes. But nothing would have been possible without the inexhaustible leadership of Miquel Cortada i Robert, engineer, computer scientist, businessman, great administrator and best visionary. With it, the company made an important technological leap and the vocation of service to the viewer was transferred to the company's DNA. A young, open company with a vocation for the future, an intense past and a present reality. Currently the leadership of the company is assumed by the fourth generation of the Cortada family, headed by a management team of young and brave women, who have grown up in the projection booths. A young and brave team that builds and looks to the future with the hope of taking the company one step further.
